Guide for Use
The Centrelink Customer Reference Number (CRN) is the unique identifier for all Centrelink customers (people and organisations), and relates to only one entity.
The CRN consists of nine digits and one alphabetic character, generated and validated by an internal Centrelink Algorithm. A PID (person ID) is a CRN without the check digit.
Historically, the CRN has been defined and held as SSR (Social Security Reference Number). Many database fields are still named using SSR; however, they are referred to (when displayed) as CRN.
