Definition

This element is the master set of environment ids. It contains the complete set of ids for production, development, test and training environments, as well as pointers to each of the environment subsets.

An environment is a database partition on the DSS mainframes. The partitions contain database records logically grouped for processing performance and to minimise impact when records need to move between environments or when environments need to be split or merged.

The environments exist for efficiency of the M204 databases.

Historically, environments were based on the state of processing. This is no longer the case. An environment does not equate to a state, and can not be used interchangeably.
