Purpose

This attribute identifies where the information came from that was used to complete the metadata record (the source of the metadata), not the source of the data.

Commentary

The origin statement should indicate:

• Where does the information that constitutes an item come from?
• Did your business area collect the information?
• If not, which business area or agency provided the information?
