Comments
Statistical Areas Level 4 are the largest sub-State regions in the Main Structure of the Australian Statistical Geography Standard (ASGS). They generally contain between 100,000 and 500,000 persons, and are designed to reflect large scale, distinct labour markets for the purpose of disseminating a variety of regional data and specifically the output of the ABS Labour Force Survey.
There are 107 SA4 regions covering the whole of Australia without gaps or overlaps. These include 18 non-spatial SA4 special purpose codes comprising Migratory–Offshore–Shipping and No Usual Address codes for each State and Territory. The Other Territories of Jervis Bay, Cocos (Keeling) Islands, Christmas Island and Norfolk Island are together represented by a single SA4 in the 2016 ASGS
